How do you envision your higher self? What do they feel like? What is their daily routine? How do you get in touch with them?
For me, my higher self is very comfortable. Especially in a physical sense. She’s wearing comfortable clothes, her body feels nourished, her appearance is natural. She’s financially well, she eats and does whatever she wants on a Monday afternoon… Her time is flexible, she’s at peace mentally; in harmony with herself. She’s taken care of in every way.
There are certain things that help me align with the vibration of my higher self. The music I listen to plays a big part of it. Little maintenance tune-ups like keeping my nails done and new hairstyles add to it. There are people in my life who bring out the best in me and make me feel the most like myself… Even if only through an energetic presence and not physical.
Out of everything, I’d have to say that expressing my creativity to the fullest is the biggest factor. I love the version of myself who writes songs in the shower, and cooks a lot, and takes a lot photographs… A lot of selfies, too. The process of bringing my ideas to life inspires one of the most divine feelings I’ve felt yet.
I’ve met my higher self at many ages; many stages and phases… And I’ve poured so much love into her each time that I never forget about what she feels like, how she talks, how she moves. I keep those special things about her tucked away in my heart for whenever I need to open it up and reconnect to them. No matter how child-like the music, the style or the love may seem.

Over time, there have been aspects of myself I’ve tried to change for the sake of maturing or “growing up” but I noticed that it always felt out of alignment. Because, you see, there’s a big difference between growing up and ascending. Growing up, or becoming more mature, is what is expected of us societally. Ascending requires us to follow our soul’s purpose. Growing up is understanding that it’s time to take on more responsibility… Ascending is honoring that you need to heal and create art.
I think it’s mastery when we are able to do both… To ascend as we grow older; to stand firm in the truth of who we are without losing touch with what the present moment requires of us.
My higher self has a real good balance to her because she dreams and fantasizes a lot, but is still very clear on reality… And she accepts each side for what it is by being aware of what it’s not.
I say it often… But when it comes down to anything about life, awareness is the first step. Awareness of self, most importantly… And when we take that first step into self-awareness, when we recognize who our highest self is, we can always find them… No matter the time or distance that exists between us.
